Roll Forming: Automatic Top-Shaft Positioning
The Yoder ATP system is designed to be an extension of Yoder's popular
Single-Point Adjustment (SPA)
feature to automatically and repeatedly position the top roll shafts
of each driven roll stand during mill setup.
- Since the system does not rely on pre-set shaft positions, the program
does NOT need to be changed when the rolls are reground.
- The motors can be moved without resistance when idle. This means that for
on-the-fly adjustments, each stand can still be adjusted by hand as
easily as with only conventional SPA.
- System utilizes off-the-shelf components with no custom hardware
so that the system can be easily maintained during the long-term.
- System can be retrofitted to any mill.
- Good alternative to rafted mill design, especially on smaller
machines where roll tooling can easily be exchanged by hand.
